Posteriorly displaced physeal fracture of the medial clavicle in an adolescent soccer player

Abstract
Posteriorly displaced physeal fractures of the medial clavicle are a rare occurrence in adolescent soccer players, accounting for <1% of all fractures and dislocations. This condition has received little attention in the Korean context. However, it carries the potential for life-threatening complications stemming from mediastinal structure compression, necessitating immediate diagnosis and intervention to optimize clinical outcomes. Recent trends in managing these injuries in young, physically active patients have leaned toward surgical intervention as the treatment of choice. However, a consensus on the most effective approach remains elusive. Here, we present a meticulously documented instance of a successful diagnosis and treatment of a rare posteriorly displaced physeal fracture of the medial clavicle in a 16-year-old soccer player. The surgical procedure used nonabsorbable suture material, emphasizing the significance of this approach in such cases.
